Chance The Rapper Donates $1 Million To Help Improve Mental Health Services In Chicago

The mental health of people in America has become a hot topic for 2018. From the amount of violence in communities, school and public shootings, opioid addiction and more. Now Chance the Rapper looks to make a difference as he donates $1 million to mental health services in Chicago.

In the black community, mental health is a topic that needs to be discussed more as many suffer from all sorts of mental health issues, but have come to accept them as just regular life. Chance has come to notice this as well as the Chicago native has seen the outcomes of many young adult going through mental health issues.

Giving the announcement during a summit for his nonprofit orgranization, SocialWorks, the rapper/philanthropist states, “want to change the way that mental health resources are being accessed.”

The money will be given to six mental health providers in Cook County with each getting a $100,000 grant. SocialWorks is set to also begin an initiative called “My State of Mind” to connect people with treatment.

As if Chance hasn’t done enough, he also announced plans to give money to 20 Chicago Public Schools.
