Painting our Halloween pumpkins has come a tradition in our home. 2 years ago we decided to turn our Halloween Pumpkins into Halloween Minions Pumpkins. To do this was pretty simple.
We took a trip to Michael’s to get all of our Halloween supplies. To create these fun Minion Pumpkins we got:
- Acrylic Paint: Yellow (A LOT), Blue, Black, White & Red.
- A black erasable marker, or chalk.
- Big Googly Eyes
- Pipe cleaners
- A Sharpie
- Hot Glue Gun
- Yarn (not needed, but was used to customize)
- Ribbons (not needed, but was used to customize)
To start, paint the entire pumpkin yellow. We have found that this will make it easier to do everything else and not fear paint colors from mixing.
Allow it to dry first. Once dry, you can start by taking your Chalk, or erasable marker and drawing the eyes, mouth and clothes of your Minion. This will allow you to create a stencil of what your looking to paint and can easily whip it off when finished.
Paint the areas as you would like them. Once finished, take your hot gun gun and glue on your googly eyes. Using a hot glue gun rather than glue will make sure that your Minion can withstand any weather that might happen if placed outside.
Now with your sharpie. This can be used to create my detail or to outline areas more. Plus this is a easy way to color small places that you don’t want to mess up with paint if your hands aren’t stable enough, or your paint brush might be too big.
And WALA! You have Halloween Minion Pumpkins.
if you try this, let us know how they turned out!
