Ryan Coogler Inks 5-Year Disney TV Deal To Create ‘Wakanda’ Disney+ Series

Ryan Coogler is definitely one of the world’s best directors. After releases of movies such as Fruitvale Station, Creed and Black Panther which made over a billion dollars worldwide and featured the late great Chadwick Boseman, Mr. Coogler is now ready to put his foot into the small screen. Ryan Coogler and his Proximity Media company have a five-year deal with Disney to create a television series based around Wakanda.

Disney+ has seen much success from the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. With the fan loved series of WandaVision that started off having people nervous, but definitely amped things up all the way to it’s first season finale. Coming to Disney+ this year is The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki, plus future releases of Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye, Armor Wars, Moon Knight, She-Hulk and more.

“It’s an honor to be partnering with The Walt Disney Company,” Coogler tells Shadow and Act, “Working with them on Black Panther was a dream come true. As avid consumers of television, we couldn’t be happier to be launching our television business with Bob Iger, Dana Walden and all the amazing studios under the Disney umbrella. We look forward to learning, growing, and building a relationship with audiences all over the world through the Disney platforms. We are especially excited that we will be taking our first leap with Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and their partners at Marvel Studios where we will be working closely with them on select MCU shows for Disney+. We’re already in the mix on some projects that we can’t wait to share.”

We definitely can’t wait to see what he has in store and you already know… WAKANDA FOREVER!
