Once you understand the power you have, you start to believe that you can always do more and become who you want to be. 13-year-old Chase Neyland-Square has a perfect understanding of this. At Port Allen Middle School in Louisiana, Chase is answering prayers by creating a community closet that provides clothes and supplies to kids in need.
According to Good Morning America, “PAMs Pantry” is filled with clothes, shoes, and hygiene products for students at Port Allen Middle. Chase came up with the idea as students were asked to submit ideas of ways they are able to others at school. Helping the staff members to get the pantry in order, Chase got the community’s help as they donated jackets, shoes, school supplies and more.
In the area where Chase comes from many of the students at Port Allen Middle come from low income neighborhoods. Due to it being a small school though, it allows for them to be able to do more for the children.
“We really want the kids to feel like they have somewhere to go when they need something. We only have 215 kids so we’re able to get to know them really well…and try to help them where we can,” Principal Major tells Good Morning America.
Chase’s mom, Amanda Square, stated to GMA that, her son has also given back to his community by hosting dinners for senior citizens, and even donated 700 pairs of socks for the homeless once.
“He seems to have a great passion for people,” Square told “GMA.” “It makes me proud because we’re very blessed and I always encourage him to bless others.”
When it comes to pantry, Chase would love to see more donations of needed shoes.
